Pre-Owned vs Certified Pre-Owned Acura

Auto inventories (and this includes ours) are divided into three sections: new models, pre-owned models, and certified pre-owned models. We all know what new and pre-owned mean, but what about certified pre-owned? What makes them different from regular pre-owned models, and who does the certifying? We'll help break it down for you.

Every model can become pre-owned. However, the CPO club is a bit more exclusive. To begin with, an Acura needs to have under 80,000 miles on its odometer, and it needs to be six years old or younger. If it meets both of those criteria, it then gets to go through a rigorous 182-point inspection process by a certified Acura technician. Every single point needs to live up to the high Acura standards. That's already impressive, but there are still more CPO benefits! CPO Acura models also come with an extended certified limited warranty, as well as an extended powertrain warranty.

CPO does come with some downsides, though. Since it's such an exclusive club, CPO inventories are smaller than regular pre-owned inventories. You might not find a CPO version of your dream Acura. Pre-owned models are also more competitively-priced than CPO ones.

If you think a CPO Acura might be for you, or if you'd rather stick with a regular pre-owned Acura, we have plenty of both right here on our lot. Come pay us a visit today here at Clinton Acura to see them all in person.
